The action in Cops ‘n’ Robbers Megaways takes place against a city skyline at night, possibly London judging by the look of the buildings. Cascading Reels
Those familiar with other Megaways slots will recognise the Cascading Reels feature. Symbols in winning combinations (apart from the walking wild) explode and disappear from the reels. This creates space for other symbols to fall into the recently vacated positions coming from above on the reels and from the right on the extra reel.
Reel Modifiers
During the base game, the police light perched on the top-right of the game grid may begin to flash either blue or red.
If it flashes blue, then a random number of Mystery symbols are added to the reels before they stop spinning.
If it flashes red, the Red Reels modifier feature starts alongside an increasing (but limited) Megaways series of spins.
A robber appears in the bottom-left of the screen. He’ll begin moving along the road below the reels so long as the traffic light turns green. Whether the traffic light turns red or green is determined at random. If the robber reaches the right-hand side of the screen, Bonus Scatter symbols are added to the reels to guarantee that a bonus is triggered.
The Red Reels feature ends with one of the following outcomes:
- The maximum number of ways-to-win (117,649) is reached.
- Players are awarded a win of 5x the stake.
- A bonus is awarded.
Bonus Choice
Landing 3 or more Bonus Scatters on the reels awards a bonus. Players can choose one of two bonuses, The Chase or Free Spins.
The Chase
If a player lands 3 Bonus Scatter symbols, they’re awarded a chase with a Cop Snooze count of 3. This is how many turns the robber can move before the copper wakes up and starts to chase. Each additional Scatter adds one extra snooze count.
The Chase is played on a separate rectangular board composed of squares. The red die makes Bert the robber move around the board. The blue die makes the copper move around the board.
Landing on a square marked with a number adds the cash value of that square to a total winnings meter, called the Total Winnings meter. Landing on the bottom-left square with the multiplier multiplies the accumulated earnings shown in the meter by the multiplier shown. Each time the square is landed on increases the value of the multiplier up to a total of x5.
The snooze count decreases by 1 with every roll of the dice. The copper only wakes up once it reaches zero, giving Bert a fighting chance to run off with his ill-gotten gains!
If Bert gets nicked by the copper, he enters the I.D. Parade. The possible outcomes of this are:
- Bert = the bonus round ends and any accumulated winnings are collected.
- Vic = increases the value of the squares and returns to the board to continue the bonus round.
- Sid = extra compensation is awarded and the player is returned to the board to continue the bonus round.
Free Spins
Landing 3 Bonus Scatter symbols awards an initial 8 Free Spins. Each additional Scatter adds 2 extra spins up to a maximum of 78.
The Free Spins bonus round comes with an unlimited win multiplier that starts at 1x and each winning cascade increases this by +1.
Winning symbol combination pays are multiplied by the current multiplier at the start of the cascade.
Bonzo the wild walking bulldog can wake up during the Free Spins bonus round and start walking along the extra horizontal reel. He moves one position per spin acting as a Wild symbol for all other symbols apart from the Bonus Scatter. If a Wild symbol lands directly below the walking wild then all symbols on that reel turn wild.
Free Spins Gamble
This feature activates when achieving a win of 5x or more during Free Spins. Two wheels appear, each with green and red segments. The left-hand side one allows players to either increase their winnings. The right-hand wheel allows players the chance to increase the number of Free Spins.
