Bonanza Megaways is the direct follow-up to BTG’s first-ever Megaways slot, Dragon Born, released earlier in 2016. Bonanza Megaways is a 6-reel online slot game with anywhere between 2 - 7 rows, depending on the on-screen action and the size of the symbols in view. As is also usual in Megaways slots, the game has an extra horizontal reel that in this game sits above reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the main game grid. The slot also offers the now standard 117,649 paylines and a potential maximum payout of 12,000x the stake.
Being a slot revolving around the theme of mining for precious jewels in the American West, the game takes place outside a mine. The main game grid is set against the rockface, so the squares that house the symbols (some of which of course look like gems and jewels) look like rectangular rocky blocks. Meanwhile, the extra horizontal reel takes on the appearance of a rail track, while the squares take on the appearance of mine carts loaded with precious stones. In the bottom left is a miner’s hut, while in the top right is a water wheel that comes out of the rockface. Here and there are grassy slopes with the odd rock strewn about. The amount of care and attention paid to it is simply staggering. Accompanying this are mysterious ambient sounds as you might hear in a gold mine. When not spinning the reels, the slot has a low laid-back banjo-dominated soundtrack. Spin the reels, however, and the music comes upbeat and frantic while still keeping to the American West theme. It all adds up to a wonderfully atmospheric slot.
