Let’s speak symbolically, then. The symbols are colourful, stylised and nicely detailed. At the higher end of the spectrum are Scatter Symbols encompassing all things you would expect of a prehistoric setting: Woolly Mammoth, Velociprator, Sabretooth Tiger, and Ugg the Caveman himself. Landing 5 of these symbols on the reels pays out up to 37.5x the original stake. Also present are the lower paying Playing Card symbols: A, K, Q, J and 10. Rock Vegas Key Features
Mega Hold and Spin Feature: Triggered when 3 or more Bonus Symbols land on the reels, this feature is the slot game’s secret weapon and the key to big wins. The normal 5x3 reel is replaced by a different, 10x10 grid, containing coloured Rock Symbols and empty spaces. Each rock symbol has its own fixed value:
Blue - 0.40
Green - 0.80
Yellow - 1.60
Pink - 2.40
Orange - 4.00
The number of Bonus Symbols that triggered the bonus round determines which Rock Symbols will be in play during the round. Here’s a full breakdown:
3 Bonus Symbols - all coloured rocks are in play
4 Bonus Symbols - blue rocks are removed from the grid
5 Scatter Symbols - blue and green rocks are removed from the grid
On to the actual mechanics, then. 3 respins are granted right at the start of the action. All rocks that hit remain locked in place until the end of the round. Any time a Rock Symbol hits, the number of respins is reset back to 3. The action continues until either all respins are finished, or the screen is filled with rocks.
It’s possible during the bonus round to have clusters of 2x2 or 3x3 matching rock symbols appear on the grid. The rock clusters then merge to create a large rock, and a random multiplier is added to them. For 2x2 clusters, this could be anything between x5 and x10, while 3x3 clusters get multipliers of x35 up to x500. After every respin as well, there’s a random chance for Rock Symbols to be added to the screen with a fire animation.
This is not the end of the bonus round either. Rock symbols may land with little key icons on top of them, which are collected on a trail beside the grid. Whenever enough keys are collected on a trail to reach the chest, it opens and randomly awards one of the following:
- A random multiplier of x0.5 - x500 is added to one of the rocks.
- A random direct money reward of 10x - 500x the total bet.
- 4 to 10 keys are added to the trail.
- A random general multiplier of x2 - x100 is applied to the total win at the end of the bonus round.
- 1 retrigger
But wait, there’s more! If enough keys are collected at the end of the trail, the Mystery Multiplier is activated. A random number between x2 and x100 is collected, and multiples the general multiplier.
But that’s still not the end! After a trail has finished, it starts up again from the beginning. This means that more rock keys can potentially be collected and the feature continues.
