Video Poker Live is a popular variation of the classic card game. It's played with a standard physical 52-card deck during the dealing phase and several virtual decks in the results phase. The objective is to get the best possible five-card hand at the end of the round.
The dealer deals 5 physical cards at the start of the game. These can be held or replaced by cards from one of the virtual decks. Any winnings get paid out at the end of the round. These depend on the strength of the winning hand and the chosen paytable. All decks get shuffled between game rounds. The dealer also manually shuffles the deck at the end of the round should the physical cards have one of the following combinations: Royal Flush, Straight Flush or Four of a Kind. Players can play up to 100 rounds.
Other RulesThe first thing is to select your bet amount, paytable and number of hands. The total number of hands and total bet are displayed on-screen. Jacks or Better is the default payable, but players can pick from the following ones:
- Jacks or Better
- Tens or Better
- Deuces Wild
- Bonus Poker
- Double Double Bonus
Once betting time is over, the dealer deals the 5 physical cards, placing them face-up. This hand (known as the "Main Hand") is on the bottom half of the screen. The top half shows the virtual hands selected by the player. These are placed face-down.
Players then select which dealt cards to keep and which to swap. The player can hold all 5 cards if they so wish. The game recommends which cards to hold, but of course, players don't have to take the suggestion.
The extra hands on the top half of the screen show which cards the player chose to hold. Any un-held cards get replaced with new cards from the virtual decks. Players can also not hold or discard any cards, in which case the game picks the default option for them.
The results are displayed on-screen once the round is over. A paytable shows (a) how often each type of hand was hit, (b) what the payout is, and (c) what the player's total winnings are.

The card values, in descending order, are the Ace, King, Queen and Jack, followed by the 10 - 2 cards. Possible hands from the highest payouts to the lowest are Royal Flush, Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, Three of a Kind and Two Pairs. Other possible hands that players can land are Jacks or Better, Tens or Better, Natural Royal Flush, Four Deuces and Four Deuces, among many others. Payouts depend on the selected paytable and what hands get dealt within that paytable.
